Bachelor of Child Welfare

The programme is a social-pedagogical education which qualifies for social work with children, youth and their families/network.

The student should acquire knowledge, attitudes and skills based on research, professional development work and empirical knowledge. Activity critical of the field in relation to own profession and practice is central.

 

Study period abroad
Possible in the work placement period in the third academic year.

Qualifications
Child welfare officers do work related to upbringing, care, learning and/or treatment with focus on the total life situation of children and youth. This activity takes place in different social institutions. Child welfare officers work for example within local child welfare services, child welfare institutions, child- and youth-psychiatric institutions and drug abuse institutions. Other examples of work-relevant places are schools, local environments and leisure activities.
 

Further education Child welfare officers may add to their education by taking different Master’s degree programmes at Lillehammer University College and other universities and university colleges in Norway and abroad.
