Student life

Student life is much more than just studying. The great majority of students at Lillehammer University College are also active outside the reading room. Student activities are ensured through the associations "Studentforeningen StHiL" and "Studentsamfunnet", both run by the students themselves. Their offices are located on campus close to the university college cafeteria.

All registered students are members of "Studentforeningen". Its purpose is to look after the students’ academic, social and political interests at the university college including electing representatives for participation in the governing bodies of the university college.

We know that the students want good recreational facilities in their spare time. The international office organise the "Buddy" service for international students. The buddies will contact you before you arrive in Lillehammer. They organize activities for the international students and help them integrate better with the Norwegian students.

A variety of student groups work under the umbrella of "Studentsamfunnet":

  • Student newspaper "Profhil"
  • "Korrupt" - the student choir
  • Photography club
  • Film club
  • Student radio
  • Music group
  • Outdoor recreation group
  • Telemark group
  • Sports group
  • Christian students’ group
  • Group for student parents
  • Group for lesbian and gay students
  • "UKA" committee
  • "UKA"-TV

During the 7th week each year, the "Studentsamfunnet" organises the "StudentUKA" (Student Week) 6 at Lillehammer University College. All students are encouraged to take part, and together they create an unforgettable week with cabaret, television programmes, parties etc.

The Student Pub

Last, but not least: "Bingo’n" the student house in the centre of Lillehammer, is a popular venue for concerts at low prices. It is also the student pub.
