The PhD program Visual Media is motivated by the observation that we are increasingly surrounded by mediated visual content.

It is imperative that the explosive development of our media and information society should be reflected in an accumulation of knowledge about the production, distribution and use of visual media in the contexts of education, entertainment and information dissemination.

The University Colleges of Lillehammer, Gjøvik and Hedmark are preparing a PhD program that involves the joint competences of research personnel from different disciplinary backgrounds – film studies, television production, media pedagogy, media technology, game programming - integrated in a multidisciplinary approach to the study of visual media and mediation.
