Problemstilling/sammendrag
Working title: Functional performance, school start and social interaction with peers of children with Down syndrome.

Aim
The overall aim of the research project is to contribute with knowledge and understanding of what factors can be associated with successful inclusion and participation in school for children with Down syndrome (DS) from an occupational therapy perspective.

The research project is divided in 4 studies with the following aims:

  • To study the home and community functional performance in 5-year-old children with DS
  • To investigate if functional performance of children with DS is related to onset time for school start. If so, to investigate which skills that has the greatest impact
  • To explore how children with Ds involve, engage and experience interaction in everyday school activities with peers
  • To identify and understand how teachers and assistants experience, understand and facilitate social interaction with peers in everyday school activities of children with DS
